About modularity in paving
The measurements of regular paving sets don’t make allowance for consistent grouting. This forces labourers to judge how to space the blocks and when to cut.
An MCM Modular Paving Set is a family of square and rectangular modules designed to be lined up precisely, keeping a consistent grout width.
MCM Modular Paving Sets enable installers to work quickly, maintaining consistent grout lines and eliminating cuttings.
Moulds for modular companion modules such as swimming pool coping and kerbs are also available.
About our measurements
In a set name, the number refers to the dimensions of the largest square in the set.
EXAMPLE
The largest module in the MCM 990 Set measures 990 x 990 mm.
We distinguish between the footprint size of a module (the actual measurements of a paver at its base) and its GC-GC size.
GC-GC stands for grout-centre to grout-centre. This is the size of the installed block including the allowance for grouting (5 mm on either side of a block, i.e. 10 mm between two blocks).
EXAMPLE
If the footprint size of a block is 490 x 490 mm, the GC-GC size is 500 x 500 mm. When grouted, two of these modules occupy 1 m x 500 mm.
The GC-GC size helps your customer to calculate how many blocks to order.
Our illustrated list of sets shows squares and rectangles with a 1:2 ratio, but other ratios (such as 1:3) are also available.
The illustrations also show border modules with a short side of 65 mm or 40 mm. The smallest square shown in each set can work as a corner module in borders.Â
