About this page
When we design the end-products that must be cast from the moulds, we bear in mind that the coping must be compatible with the paving beyond it. With this in mind, we consider:
- Modularity
- Thickness
- Surface texture
- Nose profile
- Pool corners and curves
We make a wide variety of pool coping moulds, including moulds for curved coping suited to organically shaped pools.
Pools without such curves make it possible to use larger coping blocks that line up with the paving behind it.
On this page, we show the main features of the coping blocks for straight-edged pools cast from our standard 40 mm thick Modular Pool Coping Sets, and the standard options for textures and nose profiles. We’ve designed these modules to line up with modules from our 40 mm Modular Paving Sets. We also highlight key features of the moulds themselves.
About the moulds
These pictures show a few of the features of the moulds themselves.

The band at the top of the casting side of the coping mould reinforces the nose and creates the 2 mm return at the base of the cast product. These moulds also have features that provide for professional casting and demoulding, such as grip-friendly walls and an optimal combination of sturdiness and flexibility in the material composition.

How Modular Pool Coping Sets create value
Selling Coping Sets for pools (rather than just arbitrary swimming pool coping blocks) has many advantages. Here we list three of the most important ones.
1. Reduced installation time
Every cutting of a coping unit has a knock-on effect, resulting in further cutting of the pavers that must line up behind the cut copings. Copings that are modular to the pool edge shape and dimensions install modularly, like Lego. Modularly sized copings speed up the installation time because they reduce or eliminate the need for cuttings.
2. Neat and clean installations
Cuttings result in jagged and sharp edges, rendering a serrated effect along the pool edge, and deflating the overall aesthetics of the installation. Pool copings that fit modularly, on the other hand, create an integrated and professional look.
3. Improved bottom line
When an installer can do a full pool coping installation without cuttings and with copings that fit perfectly, everyone benefits. The coping supplier is assured of repeating business, the installer’s risk for things that can go wrong reduces, and the pool owner gains a value-creating asset, largely due to a visually pleasing installation.

Corner modules
The picture below show how this value is created in an installation. In this section, we focus on the role of corner modules in achieving the overall effect.

1 – Coping modules are modular to our 40 mm Modular Paving Sets
2 – An elegant edge curve at the swimmer’s eye-level
3 – Inner corner modules
4 – Outer corner module
Internal corners
The pictures show two approaches to corners, viz. large all-in-one corner blocks, and splayed copings.

Sharp internal corner copings are mainly installed in constructed pools where the contractor can finish the internal corner at the top of the pool at a sharp 90° angle.

We design rounded internal corner copings to accommodate most corner radii of modern fibreglass pools. Internal round pool copings at tight round radii create a small “canopy” below the overhang of the copings, whereas a small edge of the pool is visible from the top in pools with wide corners.

Splayed corner copings are two splayed straight-edged pool copings that intersect at right angles to form an integrated internal sharp corner.
Splayed corner copings are easier to install than all-in-one corner copings, which tend to be heavy.
Splayed corner copings eliminate awkward protrusions as often occur in traditional installations where two standard straight-edged copings are installed at right angles to one another.
External corners
Just like internal corner copings, external corner copings have either sharp or rounded external corners. The sides of an external corner coping module are modular with adjacent copings and paving blocks.

Coping noses
Choosing a Suitable Nose Type
- Thick, bold nose profiles (such as our Snubnose or Flat Half-Round Nose) enhance the visual experience of large pools.
- Thinner nose profiles (such as the Flat Bullnose) usually suit smaller pools.
- Raised-nose copings (such as our Snubnose profile) sometimes work better for large pools in historical settings.

Special features
- The top surface texture wraps around the nose, creating a seamless appearance.
- The vertical strip below the nose (indicated in the drawing below) has a smooth cast edge, providing a clean look when viewed from the water.
